The oil contains triglycerides along with naturally occurring minor components. Research has reported the presence of compounds such as tocopherols, tocotrienols and phenolic constituents in coconut testa-derived materials.
According to the FSSAI specification, Coconut Testa Oil means oil extracted from the testa, the outer brown portion covering the coconut kernel, obtained as a by-product through paring of coconut. The specified parameters include refractive index, saponification value, iodine value, Polenske value, unsaponifiable matter and acid value.
